Why You Should Clean Your Air Ducts
In your home or business, you are surrounded by dust. It collects on your furnishings, on drapes and window treatments, in your carpets and worst of all, in your Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system. Over time normal accumulations of dust, dirt, and debris can build in the ductwork of your system allowing these contaminants to then be distributed throughout your home or business. This can cause unsafe air quality that can lead to unhealthy conditions. Regular maintenance such as simply changing the air filter can help to reduce the threat but still a regular cleaning is needed to remove contaminants from the system and ductwork.
As a certified member of the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) Cunningham Duct Cleaning Co. follows a high standard in order to meet stringent requirements set by NADCA. Methods of cleaning vary from job to job at the discretion of our service technicians and managers because each situation is unique.
Below please see typical processes that might be used to accomplish your needs:
Typically in a residence our Truck Mounted Vacuums will be employed to clean your HVAC system. During cleaning, the entire HVAC system is connected to our truck and placed under continuous negative pressure to prevent the spread of contaminants. Continuous negative pressure allows the system and ductwork to be brushed and cleaned removing particles as they become airborne. This process provides a clear passage of particles from your ductwork directly out to our truck without contaminating your home.
Commercial services are usually provided through a process known as “contact cleaning”. This process also might employ a Truck Mounted Vacuum or a portable HEPA vacuum to provide negative pressure in the HVAC system as cleaning is taking place but it is not always required. Contact cleaning is done by creating service openings as required to physically vacuum all surfaces of the ductwork. Existing service opening will be utilized but additional opening may be required at the discretion of our service technicians. At the completion of our services all openings will be closed as per industry standards providing an air tight enclosure.
